Goldsmiths, University of London is a constituent research university located in South East London on a single-site campus. Founded in 1891 as The Goldsmiths' Technical and Recreative Institute, it was acquired by the University of London in 1904 and specialises in the arts, design, computing, humanities and social sciences. The university operates a free public art gallery called the Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art.
