St George's Cathedral is the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral Church and the seat of the Archbishop of Southwark. Designed by Victorian architect Augustus Pugin, the building was solemnly opened on 4th July 1848 and measures 240 feet long by 72 feet wide with seating for about 3,000 people. It was considered the most important Catholic Church in England when constructed.
It is 5 minutes' walk from Lambeth North tube station.
